Jeffrey and Hisami Allen Built a Training Program Around One Quietly Radical Idea

Must read

Most personal development programs tell you what to add. More habits. More discipline. More knowledge. The premise at the center of Spirit Mind, the online training created by Jeffrey Allen and his wife Hisami Allen, runs in the opposite direction.

“Spirit Mind isn’t a destination,” the Allens say on their program website. “It’s a remembering of who you’ve always been.”

That framing shapes everything about how the program works. Offered through Spirit Mind Living, Inc., Spirit Mind is built on a distinction between what the Allens call the Material Mind and the Spirit Mind. The first is analytical, problem-solving, and prone to overthinking. The second, according to the program’s framework, is a quieter mode of awareness, one the training assumes participants already carry but have lost contact with. The work is not about acquiring new skills. It is about recognition and remembrance.

From Engineer to Energy Teacher

Jeffrey’s path to that idea was circuitous. He holds two computer science degrees and a mathematics degree, and spent his early career in software engineering. In an interview published by Orion’s Method, Jeffrey described how intuitive experiences he could not explain during those years pushed him toward a long study of metaphysics, including time at Psychic Horizons Center in Boulder, Colorado. The technical and the contemplative coexisted for some time before he moved toward teaching.

He began leading live energy workshops in the early 2000s. In 2005, that work took him as far as Uganda. He spent the better part of a decade building his practice through in-person training before a meeting in 2014 changed the shape of things. That year, he met Vishen Lakhiani, founder of Mindvalley, at Awesomeness Fest in Thailand. The connection opened a path to online distribution on a different scale. According to Jeffrey, his Mindvalley courses, Duality and Unlocking Transcendence, have since introduced more than one million people worldwide to energy work. Both remain available through Mindvalley membership and are listed on iamjeffreyallen.com.

Duality, Jeffrey says on his training page, draws on more than 20 years of energy research and more than a decade of live teaching. It covers topics including intuition, inner energy awareness, and the practice of working with one’s own energy field. Unlocking Transcendence is a 60-day program structured around self-discovery and higher awareness. Neither course makes medical or therapeutic claims; each describes itself as a practice for developing a particular kind of attention.

The Spirit Mind Partnership

Spirit Mind is a different kind of project, and in some respects a more personal one. Its framework originated with Hisami Allen, who developed the concept in Japan, where she has been teaching through Oneness Company, which she founded in 2000. Jeffrey met Hisami in Japan in 2009. By his account on the program website, their connection was immediate despite sharing almost no common language at the time. They married eight months later. For years after, both carried a vision of teaching together.

The translation of Spirit Mind into English began in 2017, through a series of live workshops. The full online version launched in January 2023. The spiritmind.com site describes the development process as spanning five years, and notes that the program was built entirely without AI-generated content. Spirit Mind is a registered trademark of Spirit Mind Living, Inc., and a Japanese-language version of the program continues to run separately.

In a January 2026 episode of the Rancho La Puerta wellness podcast, Jeffrey discussed the arc from his engineering career into energy work, describing the Spirit Mind approach as a shift in perspective rather than a methodology. The program’s own account of itself bears that out. Its three central themes, which the site describes as clarity, authenticity, and serenity, are each framed as the natural result of reconnecting with a quieter awareness rather than something to be practiced toward. Jeffrey continues to speak at Mindvalley events globally and co-hosts the Spirit Mind Living podcast, available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

What holds all of it together, the engineering years, the decade of live teaching, the programs built with Hisami across two languages, is a question Allen’s has been circling for a long time: what does daily life look like when a person operates from more of themselves? The Spirit Mind answer, as the program tells it, is that what is needed is not something new. It is already there, in your own presence.
